We are proud to introduce a transformative update to referral coupon codes aimed at significantly enhancing fraud prevention for our Shopify clients. Coupon misuse can be a challenge for clients concerned about promotional codes being shared without authorization.
To address this, we have developed a robust solution that binds each coupon to a specific email address — meaning a coupon can only be redeemed by the user it is assigned to, drastically cutting down the chances of unauthorized use and fraud.
Campaign Setup Enhancements
In the Talkable campaign setup, there is now an option to “Require Customer” when creating a new coupon list. This feature requires Shopify auto-sync for coupons to be active. Both settings must be enabled to utilize email-bound coupons effectively.
User Experience
When a user receives a coupon, Shopify generates a unique code specifically for them. Under the coupon settings, the “Specific customers” option ensures that the coupon is linked directly to the user’s email address — making it redeemable only by the intended recipient at checkout.
This update not only strengthens our Fraud Settings but also preserves the integrity of promotional campaigns, ensuring that discounts reach their rightful recipients while protecting our clients’ revenues.
